Course Objective

To provide a theoretical basis to student for his/her design products that would be produced for lifelong time as an essential benefit.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1	Student will have a theoretical basis about graphic arts/design
2	Student will be able to make a connection between historical and current cases on graphic arts/design
3	Student will be able to eliminate and chose the theoretical knowledge that would be a substructure for his/her design projects
4	Student will be able to develop a wide literature research, gain an ability to transfer his/her knowledge to others by using the right sources
5	Student will learn how to prepare a vocal and visual presentation, at the under graduation level.

1	Introduction, explanation of the course content, and expectations for the semester. Research paper topics.
2	Invention of the writing, Mesopotamia and Egypt Civilizations.
3	Invention of the writing in Asia, paper and first printing techniques.
4	Emerge and the enlargement of the Alphabet.
5	Submission of research paper and evaluation.
6	East and West Oriented ornamental hand manuscripts. Student seminars/presentations
7	Arrival of the printing to Europe. Student seminars/presentations
8	Midterm
9	Developing illustration tradition and leading artists/designers in Germany and the Netherlands Student seminars/presentations
10	Renaissance Graphic Design and its typography. Student seminars/presentations
