Course Objective

This course aims to teach the student, make them comprehend the problems of contemporary cinema based on the terms used to define our age such as democracy, freedom, individual, subject, identity, the other, modern, postmodern, existentialism, simulation, war, genocide, neo-colonialism, ideology, globalization etc. and starting from this point making analysis comparatively by watching sample films from modernist cinema, movement, category, directors and cinemas

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   .Learn and understand the problems of the age that he/she has been living in via cinema
2   Learn the different aesthetics of the films which discuss the contemporary problems
3   gain the knowledge and ability to identify his/her political, ideological, national, global, individual identity
4   Have the ability to question himself/herself about where and when he/she must stand and what missions he/she could have as a graduate from a cinema school
5   Be able to evaluate the position of Turkish cinema among the other world cinemas
6   Be able improve a critical point of view about Turkish and world cinemas.
7   Try to find out the ways how he/she can express his/her feelings and thoughts via cinematic language and find the questions and answers of what kind of a style he/she must shape
