Course Objective

To acquire advance knowledge on transcriptional & translational control mechanisms in prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
*To conceptually understand the biology behind a fenotype

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows and discusses the main concepts of genetic regulation
2   Explains prokaryotic transcriptional and translational regulation, compares to eukaryotic regultion
3   Explains the different mechanisms for transcriptional control in eukaryotes (while taking DNA structure and relevant biological processes into account)
4   Describes translational and post-translational mechanisms in eukaryotes. Discusses their role in expression control
5   Describes and compares epigenetic mechanisms
6   Explains and discusses RNA interference
