Course Objective |
This course based on the methodology of interdisciplinary research explores contemporary approaches in ethnomusicology. The focus is on contemporary theoretical issues in the field of the social sciences even though current concerns might be situated within the history and theory of ethnomusicological discourse. |

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods |
The course will adress a range of topics, issues and research areas such as globalisation or glocalisation and diasporas, urban ethnomusicology, popular culture and music revivals, new approaches to the perception of music, religion, ideology and popular music practices, ethnicity, consumer culture and popular music, the issues of gender and sexuality, postmodernism, postcolonialism and poststructralism and so on |
