The aim is to study the basic concepts of research techniques, historical background, the different types of research designs, instrumentation, participants, data collection techniques and data analyses.

1   Gaining information about different kinds of research methods
2   to be able to choose appropriate data collection techniques
3   to be able to choose appropriate data analysis techniques
4   to be able to analyze research in ELT in terms of validity and reliability
5   analysing scholarly texts
