Course Objective

It is aimed to comprehend the stylistic features of ornamentation in Anatolian Turkish architecture and its place in General Turkish Art and Islamic Art by examining the architectural decoration examples and application techniques of the Anatolian Seljuk, Anatolian Principalities and Ottoman Architecture.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The student learns the basic concepts and literature on ornamentation in Turkish and Islamic Architecture.
2   Comprehends the stylistic features of ornamentation seen in the architecture of Anatolian Seljuks, Principalities and Ottomans.
3   Recognize the Ornamental dictionary in Turkish and Islamic Architecture.
4   Explain the distinctive stylistic variations of architectural decoration in Turkish Art.
5   Learns the application areas, application techniques and materials of architectural decoration.
6   Gains the competence to conduct scientific research in the field.
