Course Objective

In this course, the development of the scientific discipline of sociology in Turkey is demonstrated. In this context, the cornerstones of the history of Turkish sociology, pioneering names, different tendencies and approaches are given in chronological order.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Obtains detailed information about the course of sociology in Turkey.
2   Understands the main features of Turkish Sociology.
3   Explains the schools and names that have been influential in Turkish sociology until the 1950s.
4   Interprets sociological studies carried out in Turkey during 1950-1960.
5   Evaluates the main trends in Turkish sociology between 1960-1980 and since the 1980s.
