Course Objective

To meet religious movements in Turkey from the beginning of Republic era to 1960s by utilizing sociological imagination along with constructing conceptual framework on social religious movements.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   They will see changes that the religion and religious movements have experienced in the modernization process in Turkey.
2   They will learn active religious movements after the establishment of modern Turkish Republic until 1960s.
3   They will analyze functions of religious movements emerged in the early Republic era.
4   They will understand sociological theories on religious movements.
5   They will discuss effects of religious movements emerged in the early Republic era on present-days.
