Course Objective

To research on ethical principles that scientific researches stands on (from the producing scientific knowledge to the sharing them) and analysing the needs for them.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student, at the end of the semester, will have ethical consciousness about main ethical values that scientific studies stands on.
2   Student will understand that Plagiarism, lie, destruction, distortion, fitting are not ethical.
3   Student will have the consciousness that scientific research is a value.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The problematic of the course and its methodology
2 Analysing the terms "Science", "knowledge", "Ethics" and their relation of each other.
3 The distinctiveness of the ethical stands.
4 Scientific approach and ethical approach.
5 The value frame that scientific approaches fit in and the subjectivity and objectivity of these values.
6 The importance and function of thinking and scientific activities and Ethics.
7 Alternation principle, the idea of integrity, the misplaced concreteness fallacy.
8 Mid-term Exam
9 Freedom and scientific activity with value aspect.
10 Freedom and scientific activity with value aspect.
11 Main principles in Ethics of science: honesty, attention and clarity.
12 Producing scientific knowledge, sharing, spreading and respecting humanity.
13 Productivity: emphasising the value in doing job, objectivity.
