Course Objective

To learn the etiopathogenesis, genetic and neurochemical components in etiopathogenesis of psychotic disorders especially schizophrenia. Concordantly reviewing neurochemical mechanisms underlying behavior and thoughts, clinics of schizophrenia, psychosocial and psychopharmacological treatments, the assessment of cognitive functions in schizophrenia.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learning neurochemical components of psychotic disorders.
2   Having knowledge about the etiopathogenesis and genetics of psychotic disorders.
3   Learning psychosocial and psychopharmacological treatments of schizophrenia.
4   Having general knowledge about the psychical assessment and mental examination.
5   Having basic knowledge about the assessment of cognitive functions in schizophrenia.

Assessment Criteria

The knowledge of the neurochemical components of behavior; etiopathogenesis, genetic and neurochemical components in etiopathogenesis of psychotic disorders; psychosocial and psychopharmacological treatments of schizophrenia, the assessment of cognitive functions in schizophrenia will be evaluated by mid-term and final exams.
