Course Objective

This course aims the student to learn the basic concepts and topics of surgical nursing and the new developments in care management in accordance with evidence base resources, standards and up-to-date guides.
The students improve skills of analysing and synthesizing, determining the problem correctly and deciding the correct nursing interventions by examining a case related to the topics during the course.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The student explains care management and respiratory treatment in respiratory system surgical diseases
2   The student explains the pre/intra and post care management in breast cancer surgery
3   The student explains care management in nervous system surgical diseases
4   The student uses evidence base practices in acute and chronic pain management.
5   The student explains care management in traumas and musculoskeletal surgical diseases.
6   The student explains pre/intra/ post care management in liver and renal transplantation.
7   The student reaches new and evidence based information in surgical nursing and can continue her/his personal development.
8   The student explains the legal and ethical issues in satisfying pre/during/post care needs of individual/family/society.
