Course Objective

Parasite need to media for living. In this lesson it will be informed that in vivo and in vitro media for using either protozoon or helminthes and cell cultivation

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Apply patient samples to culture media, evaluate the results
2   Apply in vitro protozoon culture, relate culture results to patient s clinic, apprise the patient
3   Apply experiments about in vivo culture media used in parasitology and evaluate the results
4   Apply cell culture in parasitology and evaluate the results
5   List culture media used for helminth identification
6   Design a research project about parasite culture media

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Basic principles in preparing in media and clinical using in parasitology
2 Amip media, experimental using in axenic amip media
3 Applying Robinson media for amipfor suspected clinical samples
4 To apply CPLM and TYM media for trichomonas for suspected clinical samples and to comment the results
5 To apply NNN media for leishmania for suspected clinical samples and to comment the results
6 To apply NNA (non nutrition agar media) for acanthomoeba for suspected clinical samples and to comment the results
7 To apply sucrose gradiente methods to giardia for suspected clinical samples
8 To apply the other protozoon media (giardia, plasmodium media) for suspected clinical samples and to comment the results
9 Growing protozoon(toxoplasma, plasmodium leishmania) in vivo cultivation (mouse, rat)
10 Growing trichinella invivo cultivation (mouse, rat)
11 Basic principles in cell cultivation and various of cell cultivation
12 Growing Toxoplasma gondii in cell cultivation
13 Detection nematode larvae and growing methods
14 Evaluation life cycle of Schistosoma via experimental method
15 Producing insects and using insectarium
