Course Objective

To learn direct diagnosis and staining methods used in coproparasitology laboratory, special and molecular diagnosis techniques used in laboratory for diagnosis of parasitic disease.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define, describe and apply fresh stool examination and concentration methods
2   Describe, explain and apply permanent and temporary staining methods in stool samples
3   List examination methods of blood, tissue, aspirations, body fluids and urine
4   List and practice parasite preparation and preservation methods
5   Apply molecular diagnosis technique and discuss in parasitic diseases

Course Contents

1 Technical devices and basic materials in laboratory
2 Biosafety in laboratory and accredition
3 Stool examination methods and examination the samples for parasite
4 Stool stain methods and examination stained preparates parasitology
5 Examination except parasite structure (artefact, luococyste, erthrocyte, polen) in stool according to differential diagnosis
6 Blood examination methods and examination the preparates
7 Tissue examination methods and examination the preparates
8 Inocculation in animals and using in parasitology
9 Diagnosis of intestinal parasites and clinical interpretation
10 Diagnosis of intestinal parasites in immundefficiency and clinical interpretation
11 Diagnosis of intestinal helminthes and clinical interpretation
12 Diagnosis of lung parasites and clinical interpretation, using cytocentrifuge
13 Diagnosis of insecta (pediculus, pulex, myasis) and clinical interpretation
14 Diagnosis of acarinae (S. scabies, demodex, tick) and clinical interpretation
15 Molecular diagnostic methods and using in parasitology
