Course Objective

Special immunology, immunological response to parasitic disease, defining and practising immunological methods in parasitology

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Presents, discuss and apply knowledge about in vivo animal experiments used in Parasitology
2   Practice parasite inoculation to mice and preparing crude antigen, interpret the results
3   Practice preparing soluble antigen and interpret the results
4   Apply and compare serological tests (IHA, IFAT, ELISA, SDS-Page, Western Blot), interpret the results
5   Apply molecular tests and interpret the results

1 Laboratory equipment in serology
2 Preparing buffer solutions, crude and soluble antigens in serological tests
3 Monoclonal antibody preparation and usage in parasitology
4 Antigen purification methods and usage in parasitology
5 ELISA tests (Conventional, Double Sandwich , Capture, Dot blot, Dimential) and usage in parasitology
6 Direct and indirect fluoresance antibody methods and usage in parasitology
7 Aglutination ((HA, IHA, latex, differentitial aglutination) and rapid diagnostic tests and usage in parasitology
8 SDS page, WB and usage in parasitology
9 Other serological tests (dye, avidity, compleman fixation, electrophoresis, counter immunoelectrophoresis, immunodiffusion, radioimmunoassay, competetive inhibition) and usage in parasitology
10 Diagnosis in Toxoplasmosis and interpretations of serological results
11 Diagnosis in Leishmaniosis and interpretations of serological results
12 Diagnosis in Cystic hidatidosis and interpretations of serological results
13 Diagnosis in Trichinellosis and interpretations of serological results
14 Diagnosis in Toxocariosis and interpretations of serological results
15 Diagnosis in Fascioliasis and interpretations of serological results
