Course Objective

Recognizing scientific research in the field of mathematics education and make a scientific study.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. To recognize the research methods.
2   2. The results of research in mathematics education about the last 35 years have been to be learn.
3   3. In the past 35 year period the methods, theoretical approaches, and types of questions which have been used will be recognizing.
4   4. In terms of the obtained results they can be recognize changes in structure of study.
5   5. To be made to evaluate research

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Researching the studies conducted in mathematics education
2 Investigate the effects of mathematical studies conducted in mathematics education program and teaching-learning of mathematics.
3 Examining the methods of researches of mathematics education in the last 35 years
4 Discussion of research results and products made from the last 35 years
5 Examining a historical perspective of changes in the structure of the research study period
6 Examine the implications of developments in cognitive psychology to mathematics education based on learning theories (Piaget, Bruner, Vygotsky, Dewey, et al).
7 Course overview, evaluation and midterm examination
8 Examining the Constructivist learning approach (radical, social, cognitive constructivism and application areas)
9 Examining the implications of Constructivist approach to mathematics education.
10 Examination of conceptual learning approach in mathematics education
11 Carrying out a pilot license at the level of instruction based on conceptual learning approach
12 Examining of the "Procept Theory"
13 To be made an application trough the framework of this theory for a mathematical concept
14 Discussion of the results of the application
15 Final exam
