Course Objective

This course aims the students
1- to comprehend the general characteristics of the period of the last two of Rashid Caliphs, namely Othman and Ali; to gain acquaintance of the classical sources and modern researches; and to be able to analyze the historical anecdotes.
2- To have knowledge on the dynamics of the period.
3- To gain detailed information on the personality, statesmanship, and the administrative structure and the activities of the period of Othman,
4- To gain detailed information on the personality, statesmanship, and the administrative structure and the activities of the period of Ali.
5- To gain ability of analyzing and interpreting the background of social and administrative problems within modern historical perspective.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The students taking this course; Will be able to construct the personality, statesmanship, and the policy of conquest of Othman.
2   Will follow the personality, statesmanship, and activities of Ali from classical sources.
3   Will analyze the properties of Islamic cities, the formation of administrative and demographic structure and their impacts.
4   Will be able to understand the historical background of inner-struggle in the period of Ali.
