Course Objective

The objectives of this course include to introduce students to the concepts, practices, opportunities, and challenges of social entrepreneurship in tourism business and provide frameworks and tools that will help students better understand social, environmental, and economic problems, both locally and globally, and to see new opportunities to create innovative ventures to address these problems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Determine the nature and significance of enterprise and social responsibility in the hospitality and tourism industries and judge the implications of entrepreneurial activity
2   Assess the nature of the enterprise environment
3   Explain the concepts of the entrepreneur, entrepreneur, entrepreneurship, including social entrepreneurship
4   Reflect upon and develop personal entrepreneurial attributes and competencies
5   Critically evaluate a theoretical contribution to the area of study, present findings clearly and lead an informed discussion
