Course Objective

The purpose of the course is highlighting the importance of safety and risk assessment studies for limiting and/or controlling the accidents and hazards which may occur in the transportation engineering site operations for to provide safe working conditions on site. The course aims to make the students be able to conduct risk analysis and evaluation studies in construction sites and take necessary precautions. Students will also be aware of legal responsibilities and competencies for engineers about occupational health and safety risks in transportation engineering applications.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To define and classify the healthy risks and construction site safety issues in construction of transportation modes
2   To recognize the importance of the improvements in construction site safety management processes and environmental awareness in transportation engineering applications
3   To recognize and identify hazardous materials and environmental aspects of road and pavement materials
4   To organize the work teams and individuals to achieve their objectives
5   To investigate and evaluate accidents in construction sites of different transportation modes.
6   To conduct safety and environmental risk assessments in transportation eng. applications
7   To implement and manage effective healthy and safety in transportation eng. applications
