Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students with a detailed knowledge on both the cardiovascular system and modern techniques used to deal with this system.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Get acquainted with the cardiovascular physiology and cardiovascular diseases.
2   Learn the signal processing techniques based on the ECG signals.
3   Understand the functioning of the modern techniques.

3 Measurement of the Mechanical Events of the Heart and Vessels (Heart Chamber Pressure, Cardiac Output/LVEF, Blood Flow, Heart Sounds, PPG)
4 Measurement of the Electrical Events of the Heart (ECG)
5 Cardiovascular Disorders (MI, CHF, Myopathy, etc.)
6 Arrhythmia Classification
7 HRV Analysis I
8 HRV Analysis II
9 TWA and LP Analyses
10 Midterm
11 Cardiovascular Imaging (X-Ray Angiography, Fluoroscopy, Echocardiography, ECG Imaging, MRA, Doppler
12 Image-Guided Interventions (Electrophysiology, Cardiac Mapping and Ablation Studies, Stent Insertion, Balloon Angioplasty)
13 Restoring Cardiac Function (Regenerative Therapy, Resynchronization Therapy, Coronary Artery Revascularization, Total Artificial Heart)
