Course Objective |
Air quality deterioration is keeping an upward trend to constitute the most endangering environmental problem area in our societies. Most of the energy spent so far in air pollution work is dedicated, however, to understand the mechanisms and to evaluate the measured levels of air pollution. This introductory course covers an overview of the four unit operations of absorption, adsorption, condensation, and incineration as applied to gas cleaning in the form of control unit design. These basic operations are reviewed with respect to applied design criteria in gas control equipment. |

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods |
The course is taught in lecture format with class presentations and discussions. All class members are expected to attend both the lecture and seminar hours and take part in discussion sessions. Besides the taught lectures, weekly homework assignments will be prepared by the students. The solutions to the assignment will be given and discussed in the following lecture. |
