Course Objective

This course intends to consider the transformations in local conditions of third world countries in context of the recent changes and the newly-constructed balances throughout the world, and in parallel, aims to focusing on the problems emerging particularly in living spaces. Throughout the course, during which underdevelopment will be expounded in terms of all economical, political and social processes, the striking emphasis put on the local which is accompanied by dramatic fissures and fragmentation on spatial grounds will be elaborately discussed

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, students, will be able to describe the new urban poverty concept
2   will be able to define the characteristics of housing problem in developing countries,
3   will be able to explain the changing social and spatial relations in context of the new urban poverty
4   will be explain the economical and political dimensions of the change in the post-1980 period
5   will be able to interpret the new urban poverty in Turkey.
