MARINE GEOLOGY AND GEOPHYSICS
MARINE GEOLOGY AND GEOPHYSICS

Course Objective

Geophysical data processing is the use of computers for the analysis of geophysical data (more so for the marine geophysical data). Such a massive amount of data require both statistical reduction and the ability to compute theorical solutions in many parametre earth models. Geophysical data processing begins with the syudy of the sampled time from of filter theory and spectral analysis. Basic concepts of resolving power, statistics, matrices and course the least squares will be considered in the context of this course.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Having information about data analysis in marine geophysics.
2   Applying methods towards information about application.
3   Learning teoric and practice applications of data processing programs in data analysis.
4   Gaining experience marine data processing programs.
5   Having skill for applying engineering studies by submarine construction structures.
6   Investigation of submarine faults and doing seismicity studies to aim determine young tectonic structures and having skill evaulate original results.
7   Taking part at the original studies by using available hardware, software and informatic technologies.
8   Using available hardware and software with ARGE projects.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Exams will measure skill that is assessment of information about ocean structures. Every exams will contain class material and include assessment are about homework. Studying on the problems and understand these problems of students, there is a condition for completing lesson with success. Preparing presentations about any topic that is related to lesson content and make discussion these presentation in the classroom will be developed their skills about attendance and interpretation to lesson of students.

Assessment Criteria

1. One main topic of every a section will take part in the exams. One or more questions for every a topic will ask to students. Point assessment of exam questions will substantiate by point system that lecturer determines.
2. Extraction point of student attendance will be depended on situation of attendance to lessons, quality of answers to questions which asked by lecturer during lesson and attendance by students for creating education environment.
3. Good attendance for notes that been between two notes will sustain notes to maximum level.
4. Understandable of topic and correction of data assessment results will evaluate through presentation which related to lesson content.
