Course Objective

The aim of the course is to gain the students the ability to discuss multi-faceted problematic in archeological restoration area, and archeological heritage. The ongoing restoration Works, Preservation theory of archeological heritage, legislation problems and the preservation and exhibition methods of archeological heritage will be the main theme of the course.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Will be able to know the components of historical environment and the meaning and the definition of Archeological Heritage.
2   Will be able to define the preservation values
3   WIll be able to gain the abiltiy of make research on multilayered textures.
4   WIll be able to know the Archeological sites among Turkey.
5   Will be able to understand the preservation, restoration and exhibition methods of archeological heritage

1 Introduction to course; Definition of aim, objectives and expectations.
2 Analyzing the concept of historical environment, components of historical environment, discussing the meaning and definition of archeological heritage
3 Exampling the Archeological sites in Turkey, Defining the preservation theory and terms of use of architectural heritage
4 Defining documentation methods in Archeological Heritage
5 Defining the Preservation and Conservation Principles in Archeological Sites.
6 Defining The Planning Principles of Preservation Shelters and Routes in Archeological Sites and Discussions on the Examples Defining the Presentation topics
7 Defining Anastilozis methods in Preservation of Archeological Sites and Discussions on the Examples
8 Defining the Methods of Exhibiting the Archeological Values and Sites and Discussions on the Examples
9 Defining the design criteria of new buildings (museums, ticket offices, visitor centers, etc.) and Discussions on the Examples

Assessment Criteria

The assignments will be presented by the students, and this presentation and the paper of the presentation will be graded. The percentage of the presantation and the paper of the presentation will be %50. Final paper submission will be graded as the %50 of the final grade. (%50 Presentaion, % 50 final paper submission)
