Course Objective

Microalgae culture is an important field of modern Biochemistry and Biotechnology. It has a significant role due to provided 5 million dollars to world economy every year. In the world life, microalgae are used as a CO2/O2 convertor. However, these are primer biomass producer and the most valued microorganisms in the ecological groups. Established researchs that are for enhancing food, feed, environmental and cosmetics aplications.
The students will learn biochemical features of microalgae related with microalgal culture, will give details about designed systems for microalgal biomass culture and economic applications of microalgae.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   explain structure of microalgal cells and express to photosynthesis in microalgae,
2   have knowledge about basic culturing techniques of microalgae and compare these,
3   have knowledge on effects of environmental stress factor on microalgal cell composition and function,
4   different culturing techniques designed to increase biomass production of microalgae,
5   discuss economic applications of microalgae.
