Course Objective

The course aims to describe the influence of earthquakes on health care systems, characteristics of the management, the major consequences for both health care providers and patients, and as the most important section, the Hospital Emergency Incident System.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To help the student to understand the importance of preparedness and planning before an earthquake or a disaster in a healthcare facility.
2   To develop the students analytical abilities and ability to manage crisis situations during an earthquake or a disaster in a healthcare facility.
3   To give the students to overcome a crisis situation, iplanting the normal daily function and managing the health care facility after an earthquake or a disaster.
