Course Objective

It is aimed to explain the regulations of the coastal zone with theoritical frame and jurisprudences.

2   Discussion of coastal zone concept in terms of environmental law
3   Explanation of national regulation with regards to coastal zone
4   Explanation of international regulation and contracts with regards to coastal zone
5   Relating maritime law concepts with coastal zone

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Identification of basic concepts of coastal zone
2 Explanation of Coast line, coast edge line, and shore line concepts by comparison.
3 Explanation of public property qualification of coasts
4 Explanation of national and international regulations with regards to coastal zone
5 Planning in coasts
6 Right of settlement on coasts and shore line
7 Land reclamation through landfill and dewatering, and possible constructions on these areas
8 Mid-term exam
9 Institutions which have authority and responsibility in coastal zone in Turkey
10 Legal liability with regards to coastal zone in international contracts which Turkey is a side of
11 Administrative remedy against illegal applications in coastal zone
12 Judicial remedy against illegal applications in coastal zone
13 Vested right concept in coasts
14 Final exam
