Course Objective

This course attempts to pull together the essential of (a) dynamics of Recent sedimentation, (b) dynamics of Quatenary eustatic sea-level fluctuations and (c) beach erosions. This course is intended as an introduction for marine engineering such as breakwaters, marinas and harbours.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn sediments, time and the stratigraphic record
2   To understand properties of sediments and sedimentary rocks
3   To study dynamics in the stratigraphic record
4   To learn the role of clastic sedimentation in coastal environments
5   To understand relation between climate and sedimentation
6   To understand climate changes
7   To study long shore currents and beach nourishment
