Course Objective

Digital printing technologies have gained importance in the textile industry in recent years. In this course, the basic concepts of digital printing systems, the principle, used dyestuffs, fixation and post-processes, preparation processes of printing and color management is aimed to gain information about.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 History and development process of digital printing systems.
2 Design in digital printing. RGB, CMYK, CIELab color systems and conversions between each other.
3 Basic concepts for ink jet technology (hydrodynamics, viscosity, surface tension, elasticity, etc.).
4 Basic concepts for ink jet technology (hydrodynamics, viscosity, surface tension, elasticity, etc.).
5 Ink jet printheads used in textile printing.
6 Dyestuffs used in digital printing and their properties.
7 Fabric preparation before printing (cellulose and protein fibers).
8 Fabric preparation before printing (synthetic fibers).
9 Fixing after printing. Post operations.
10 Recent developments in digital printing.
11 Sublimation transfer printing (dyes, papers and machines).
12 Sublimation and diffusion in sublimation transfer printing
