Course Objective

It is aimed to give information about three-dimensional apparel CAD systems, the body scanners and made to measure production systems to the students. In addition, it is taught pattern making by using CAD systems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn the body scanners
2   To have awareness about made-to-measure production systems
3   To have information about 3D CAD systems.
4   To create 2D patterns via computer system
5   To generate 3D clothes on virtual manikin by exporting patterns which were made on 2D CAD system

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Body scanning systems, functions and working principles
2 Classical body measurements methods. Comparison of classical methods and body scanning systems
3 Introduction of made-to-measure system(MTM)
4 Functions of three-dimensional CAD systems, their use areas, investigation of the systems comparatively
5 Giving the first project and describing of the project
6 Time for preparing projects
7 Presentation of the projects
8 Introduction of Lectra CAD system
9 Investigation of point and line menus and an analysis of their sub-menus on Lectra CAD system
10 Examining modification and pieces menus and their sub-menus in details
11 Creating pleat, dart and cutting lines on clothing pattern on Lectra CAD system
12 Giving different projects to each student to have them make patterns on CAD system by measuring their own clothing piece
13 Time for preparing projects on Cad system
14 Presentation of projects
