Course Objective

1. Teaching the importance of flotation and its basic mechanisms
2. Teaching characterization of minerals and their flotation properties
3. Teaching reagents (collectors, depressants, frothers, pH regulators, etc.) used in flotation
4. Teaching how to choose reagents for particular ore and how to run laboratory tests

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Determines ore characteristics for flotation.
2   Chooses reagents suitable for flotation and tests them.
3   Knows ions effective in flotation, zeta potential, contact angle, electrical double layer, etc.
4   Knows chemicals used in flotation.
5   Determines flowsheets for the flotation of different ores.
