Course Objective

The aim of this course is to gain students competencies applying thermodynamics laws to open and closed systems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to define of basic concepts of thermodynamics and to calculate the properties of a pure substance
2   To be able to apply the first law of thermodynamics to open systems
3   To be able to apply the first law of thermodynamics to closed systems
4   To be able to understand the second law of thermodynamics
5   To be able to apply the second law of thermodynamics to heat engines, refrigeration machines and heat pumps
