Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students with a basic understanding of economics.

2   Being able to identify the determinants of supply
3   Being able to compare the perfect competition markets with imperfect competition markets
4   Being able to explain the national income equation.
5   Being able to explain monetary, fiscal and foreign trade policies.

1 The fundamental concepts of economics
2 The determinants of demand and demand elasticity
3 The determinants of supply and supply elasticity
4 Formation of price in commodity markets, market balance and changes in market balance, comparison of perfect competition markets with imperfect competition market
5 The concept of utility and consumer balance
6 The Fundamental concepts of production costs and producer balance
7 Mid-term exam
8 Mid-term exam
9 The Concept of gross, reel and potential national income and calculation of national income
10 The determinants of total demand and total supply
11 Market balance and changes in market balance
12 Main macroeconomic problems; economic growth, inflation, unemployment, domestic and external debt
13 Concept of money demand and money supply, foreign exchange market and determination of foreign exchange rate
14 Concept of monetary, fiscal, foreign trade and foreign exchange policies
