Course Objective

The aim of the course is to introduce systems composed of nodal points and strip elements.

1   Defining buildings with steel structure.
2   Recognizing systems composed of nodal points and rod elements.
3   Recognizing planes and space trusses.
4   Recognizing plane trusses and space trusses.
5   Understanding steel light buildings.

1 Structural systems within the framework of efficiency and economy concepts
2 Plane trusses (Two dimensional strip systems)
3 Plane trusses
4 Space russes (Three dimensional strip systems)
5 Space structures with plane surface (Introduction, definitions, historical development, assumptions about static analysis of space truss systems
6 Space structures with plane surface (Classification of space truss systems Introduction, Geometrical consumption of space trusses
7 Space structures with plane surfaces (Proper and partially proper nets and multi facets)
8 Space strucutres with plane surfaces (samples)
9 1st Midterm Exam
10 Space structures with concave surfaces (Strip net domes)
11 Space structures with concave surfaces (Geodesic Domes)
12 Low rise and steel buildings
13 High rise and steel buildings
14 2nd Midterm Exam
