Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

This seminar course will be held on the general discussions through student assignments and presentations, as well as the lectures given by the instructor. Instructor will direct students with relevant information and resources for the student presentations. Courses will be in the form of high-performance presentations and discussions. Students will be encouraged to participate in class discussions. After the group presentations, the topic will be introduced to a general discussion by the instructor. During the semester, students will produce works appropriating different visual production techniques. The produced works of students can be reproduced with the guidance of instructor during the term. At the end of the period, all the works of a student will be submitted as a portfolio.

Midterm Exam (20%): An exam will be held throughout the semester. This exam covers the reading texts and presentations made during the theoretical part of the course.
Assignments and Student Presentations (25%): Assignments will be given in the light of group presentations and weekly discussions and prepared individually. In order to achieve the final exam, it is highly recommended to submit all assignments on time and regularly, and revise them with the guidance of the instructor. At the beginning of the semester, the instructor will group the students for presentations. Presentations will focus on the outstanding phenomena, movements, people, their productions and different visual production techniques of the 20th century modern art and architecture. Group presentations require a collaborative effort. It is the group's responsibility to ensure that each group member contributes to the group work equally.
Portfolio_Final Exam (50%): A portfolio that covers all the works produced during the semester will be submitted individually at final exam.
Participation (5%): Portfolio pre-submission will be evaluated. Moreover, student participation will depend on, (i) the student's attendance, (ii) the quality of student's responses to the questions during the course and (iii) the student's contribution to create a positive learning environment.

1. It is highly recommended to be attended the courses, MIM 2523 Sanat Tarihi and MIM 3811 Modern Mimarlık Tarihi.
2. It is not considered as a valid excuse to be absent in class for late submissions of assignments.
3. Late submissions will be subject to a different evaluation.
4. All kinds of plagiarism will result in a disciplinary action.
