Course Objective

This course aims at giving general information concerning the grammar structure of English as a foreign language which will be useful in business life and writings. Moreover it aims to concentrate on issues which will be considered in the preparation of curriculum vitae and letter of intent required in employment or graduate application and to give related information about application to international and national foreign language examinations and question types.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, students will be able to define the structural characteristics of business English,
2   will be able to recall the grammar knowledge,
3   will be able to use the foreign literature,
4   will be able to adapt the curriculum vitae,
5   will be able to restate the letter of intent.

4 A Preview of the Grammar: The Use of Possessive Nouns, Verbs in Sentences, Tenses of Verbs, Regular and Irregular Verbs
5 Building Sentences: Writing Numbers, Uses of the Comma, Variety, Unity, Conciseness, Parallel Structure, Subordination, Emphasis, Things to Avoid
6 How to Prepare a Curriculum Vitae (CV): Things to Do and Things to Avoid
7 Practice of Preparing CV, discussions on several CVs prepared by students
