Course Objective

An overall introduction and detailed information about accesories and auxillary materials that used in clothing production;

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to define and understand the clothing auxillary materials and accessories.
2   Ability to understand the technical details of lining application procedures.
3   Ability to explain the technical details of embroidery application tecniques.
4   Ability to explain the technical details of trimming and related auxillary materials.
5   Ability to explain the technical details of joining and related auxillary materials.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The importance of sewing threds in terms of clothing production, functional requirements and appearance properties
2 Calculation the sewing threads consumption, the importance of thread consumption in terms of different sewing threads and clothing production
3 Embroidery technology, embroidery types and application details
4 Main fabric types that used as lining. Lining methods and application techniques
5 Narrow width materials (bindings, labels, ribbons, elastic bands, lace and all types of bands) and application details
6 Zipper technologies. Application fields and materiald properties
7 Mid-term exam week
8 Button technologies. Application fields and materiald properties
9 All types of fasteners i.e. velcro, snap fastener, hooks, rings. Material characteristics and application techniques
10 Main labels, care labels and size labels on clothing products.
11 All types of trimming materials i.e. shoulder padding, beads, laces, sequins, guipure, quilting materials. Material characteristics and application techniques
12 Fusing technologies in clothing production, Main materials used in fusing processes
13 Mid-term exam
14 All types of finishing and shipping materials i.e. Clothes hanger, package, carrier bag etc., The importance of material/accessory ware house in the companies. Quality control, planning and supplying procedures in material/accessory ware-house.
