Course Objective

To give theoretical and practical information about textile printing.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn the place and importance of textile printing in the world
2   To learn printing pastes and auxiliary agents od printing
3   To learn printing techniques and machines
4   To gain the ability to solve problems by using fundamental information about printing
5   To gain the ability to form new processes determining the needs by using fundamental information about printing

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The definition of printing, basic principles, colour- pattern knowledge.
2 Repeat finding, thickeners, viscosity and printing auxiliary chemicals.
3 Preparing printing paste and recipe, printing methods, special printing methods.
4 Special printing methods and effects.
5 Laboratory practice of special printing methods.
6 Printing machines Roller, flat-screen, rotary-screen and digital printing machines.
7 Midterm Exam
8 Printing of cellulosic fibers. Vat and reactive dyes.
9 Pigment printing. Discharge, resist and rezerve printing.
10 Laboratory practice of printing with vat and reactive dyes.
11 Laboratory practice of pigment printing. Laboratory practice of discharge printing.
12 Printing of protein and synthetic fibers.
13 Laboratory practice of printing with disperse dyes. Laboratory practice of sublimation transfer printing.
14 Misprints. Technical visit.
