Course Objective

To investigate the finishing and fixing processes of cotton, wool and synthetic fibers and also test methods

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn the importance of finishing processes for textile treatment, chemical and mechanical finishing processes
2   To learn the chemical agents and application methods applicable to textile fibers
3   To learn the mechanism of finishing processes applicable to textile fibers
4   To learn test methods for performance properties of treated textiles with finishing processes
5   To be able to design a finishing process to obtain a functional property for textile material

4 Differences between water resistancy and water repellency, investigation of chemical agents
5 Modifications on textile surface after water repellency and water resistancy finishing processes, aplication methods
6 Investigation of flame retardancy processes and mechnism in the base of fibers and discussion of test methods
7 Soil and oil repellecy processes, related chemical agents, mechanism and test methods-1.mid term exam
8 Mechanical treatment processes of textites made of cotton
9 Other finishing process (antimicrobial etc.)
10 Fixing processes of wool textiles, unfelting fibishing processes, test methods
11 Mechanical treatment processes of textites made of wool
12 Finishing processes and test methods of technical textiles
13 2.mid term exam
14 Finishing processes of polyester fibers
