Course Objective

Describing, practising of pretreatment processes, machines, recipes for all kind of fibers.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define the main aspects of pretreatment for synthetic and natural fibers.
2   Define and recognize the process flow chart for spesific products and the machines of pretreatment processes
3   Calculation recipes of pretreatment.
4   Measure, evaluate the results of practice. Evaluate the results and make conclusions
5   Examine the structure of chemicals, which are used in pretreatment

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The importance of prtreatment and general knowledge about pretreatment.
2 Control and cleaning, singeing. Description of practical course and calculations for practical course.
3 Sizing agents and their importance for pretreatment.
4 Desizing process and agents. Practice: desizing.
5 The aim, principles and methods of scouring process. Scouring with enzymes.
6 Bleaching of cotton. Hypochloride, hydrogen peroxide and sodium chloride bleaching. Practice: scouring.
7 1st midterm exam.
8 Laboratory practice of hypochloride bleach and scouring. Rinse with bluing and optic bleaching. Evaluation of optic bleaching and bleaching. Treatment of catalase enzyme.
9 Combination of pretreatment processes. Practice: hydrogen peroxide bleach.
10 Pretreatment of synt.and regen.cell.fibers and blended text. Practice: hydrogen peroxide bleach.
11 Pretreatment and washing processes of wool. Carbonization. Practice: optical bleaching.
12 Pretreatment and washing processes of wool. Carbonization. Practice: pretreatment and washing processes of wool.
13 Pretreatment and washing processes of wool. Practice: pretreatment and washing processes of wool.
14 Pretreatment of flax and linen fibers. Practice: bleaching of linen
