Course Objective

Introduction of basic mineralogy and petrography. Description of common rock-forming minerals and presentation of theoretical knowledge related to description of rock types and their occurrence, classification and designation in nature, implementation of laboratory work. Thus, the students of Mining Engineering gain the knowledge on rocks and their economic significance

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Reminiscence of knowledge being related to this course and acquired beforehand
2   Capability of classifying rock-forming minerals, rocks and ore minerals
3   Capability of putting the new knowledge gained from this course into practice
4   Capability of analysis of what implications can be posed on mining practices
