Course Objective |
Introductory level rock mechanics is covered in this course. Rock mass rating, deformability and strength characteristics of rocks, bearing capacity and settlement of foundations on rock and anchor design in rock formations are introduced to the students. |

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods |
General engineering behavior of rocks and analysis of foundation systems on rock formations are taught using sample problem solutions. Presentations will be made regarding engineering problems that would be faced in rock formations. The presentations will be handed out to the registered students. |
