Course Objective

The aim of this course is teaching the basic hydraulic principles and fundamentals of static and dynamic behaviour of liquid and gas fluids.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Defining of unit systems and molecular structure of materials
2   Interpreting the laws of fluid mechanics related to fluid behaviour at static conditions
3   Defining of basic concepts of fluid behaviour at dynamic conditions
4   Solving the basic equations defining for static and dynamic conditions
5   Application of fundamentals of static and dynamic behaviour of fluids to the practical problems.

1 Introduction, units, density, specific weight,viscosity, surface tension
2 Fluid statics, pressure forces on surfaces, submerged and floating bodies
3 Fluid kinetics, Langrange and Euler Approach
4 Basic equations of one dimensional flows, energy equation, impulse-momentum equation
5 One dimensional flow of ideal flow
6 Applications of Bernoulli equation
7 One dimensional flows of real fluids, continuity equation, impulse-momentum equation, energy equation
8 Midterm Exam
9 Laminar and turbulence flow
10 Two dimensional flows of ideal fluids
11 Potential flows, rotational and irrotational flow, circulation and vorticity
12 Basic equations of potential flows
13 Two dimensional flows of real fluids
14 Applications on two dimensional flows of real fluids, boundary layer
