Course Objective

The objective of this course is to give students opportunities to see and get to know hardware, software and communication applications of computers in a work environment. Summer practice can be performed in institutions that use information technologies in the processes such as planning, design, and production, or institutions that provide services in information technologies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Introduction of the institution and its function in detail
2   In the summer practice report, keeping the record of the works done by the student and his/her work team in the institution on a daily basis during the summer practice
3   including the necessary plots, drawings, plans and photograghs in the summer practice report
4   interpretation of the practical works done and good manners and the knowledge acquired by the student during summer practice in the light of the theoretical knowledge taken at the institution where he/she is being educated
5   In general, assesment of the works done and the experiences acquired by the student from his/her point of view.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Getting information about institution, its function, its rules,and duties/projects that will be fulfilled by the student. Gaining basic knowledge about hardware/software components of computers
2 Starting into practical work that may involve computer maintanence, programming, or use of an application software to learn processes performed in the institution
3 Continuing with practical work
4 Continuing with practical work, preparing summer practice report and getting it approved by the institiution

Assessment Criteria

Learning outcomes are evaluated at the end of the summer practice of each student based on the attendence to the summer practice, the grade given by the institution engineer in charge of summer practice and the report prepared by the student.
