Course Objective

Fundamental concepts related to environmental engineering and environmental problemes. Information about air, water, soil, solid waste, sewage sludge, radioactive pollution and electromagnetic pollution.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Environment, ecosystem, hydrological cycle, the basic principles and laws related to the environment.
2   Local environmental problems, Turkiye's environmental problems, global environmental problems.
3   Experienced large-scale environmental disasters, environmental pollution and control organizations.
4   Environment history, environmental ethics, quality of life and the environment, sources of pollution, municipal, industrial, natural, liquid, solid and gaseous wastes.
5   Hazardous waste and control, water pollution and control, soil pollution and control.
6   Solid wastes and treatment sludges control, air pollution and control.
7   Electromagnetic pollution and control, Noise pollution and control.
8   The quality of drinking - potable water and treatment technologies, waste water treatment technologies.

6 Hazardous Waste. Hazardous Waste and control.
7 Solid wastes and treatment sludges. Solid wastes and treatment sludges storage-disposal.
8 Air pollution. Air pollution and control.
9 Electromagnetic & radioactive pollution. Electromagnetic & radioactive pollution control and protection.
10 Exam. Midterm exam.
11 Soil and noise pollution. Soil - noise pollution control and protection.
12 Drinking and potable water. Drinking - potable water quality and treatment technologies.
13 Waste water. Waste water treatment technologies.
14 Actors and social awareness. Actors and social awareness in environmental pollution.
