Course Objective

Design principles of Water supply in towns and cities.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To express the basic concepts associated with water supply.
2   Explain methods of water supply.
3   To use the methods of sizing of water supply effectively.
4   To discuss the results of the methods.
5   To plan methods for design of Water supply facilities with the data evaluation, drawing inferences from the findings, to reveal the differences in predictions from sampling to audience.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Design of water supply facilities and the general situation in our country.
2 Various methods of calculating future population.
3 Determination of water needs and water supply and water intake structures.
4 Tasks and types of water reservoirs and determination of volume and calculation of the location and elevation of the reservoir.
5 The center of the pump and pump sizing calculations. Stroke accounts and the necessary precautions.
6 Distribution system and hydraulic calculations for Drinking water.
7 Design of network by using deadend methods
8 The other solution methods (Hardy Cross Method, etc.)..
9 Detailing of nodes and drawings.
10 Descriptions of the contents of a water supply project.
11 Project Execution and drawing fundamentals.
12 Important points during construction.midterms 2.
13 Metering and reconnaissance
14 Operation and quality control of the network.
