Course Objective

This course aims to teach the operation of wastewater treatment plants to protect water quality with an emphasis on fundamental principals. It gives the ability of management and organization to solve the problems facing wastewater treatment operations.

1   Definability of the conceptual elements on the management of wastewater treatment
2   Describability, detectability, and solvability of problems relating with WWTPs
3   Setting the records of WWTP operational data
4   Definability of the problems facing WWT operations and management ability of them

2 Management of Wastewater treatment plants: The management of financial sources, Process control, Maintenance, and Laboratory
3 Permits, Records, and Reports in WWTs
4 Process Instrumentation and Automatic Control Systems
5 Preparation of Plant Maintenance Programme
6 Puming Stations, Bar racks: Process control, operation, recording, etc.
7 Midterm Exam I
8 Grit Chambers: Process principles, control, records, etc.; Primary Settling Tanks
9 Basic Chemistry and Microbiology of the Activated Sludge Process, Operation of Conventional AS Process, Instrumentation
10 Operation of Modified Activated Sludge Processes, Instrumentation, Process Control, etc
11 Activated Sludge Separation Problems
12 Sampling programme and analysis for Activated Sludge Processes
