Course Objective

The objective of the course is to introduce information from the different fields of Environmental Engineering. Thus, it is aimed that students are informed about the employment alternatives, types of jobs, condtions of work places, their contributions to the anticipated jobs. Plus recent subjects having importance in environmental engineering which have not been included in the curriculum is introduced to the students.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To get (practical) information from the experts of different fields of environmental engineering.
2   To give information via an expert about the recent issues of the environmental engineering which have not been included in the curriculuım.
3   To inform about the emploment alternatives after graduation

Course Contents

1 Introduction: Introduction of the different fields of Environmetal Engineering, presentation of various applications, to introduce the concept of professional responsibility
2 Water Supply: To give information about water supply practices of IZSU (Water and sewarage authority of Izmir), or DSI (State Hydraulic Works) or Proviencial Bank
3 Water Purification: To give information on water treatment practiices by IZSU, Proviencial Bank or priviate companies.
4 Wastewater treatment: To give information on wastewater treatment practiices by IZSU, Proviencial Bank or priviate companies.
5 To give information on design, construction and operation of treatment plants
6 To give information on solid wate management
7 To give information on environmental consultancy services
8 To give information on occupational health and safety
9 To give information on project management
10 To give information on environmental laws and regulations and applications
11 To give information on OHSAS - ISO14000 Quality Management
12 To give information on swimming pools and pool equipment
