Course Objective |
The purpose of this course is to provide terms and concepts that form the basis of the science of chemistry and the basic theories of these concepts. The main objective of this course is to give fundamentals of chemistry covering matter and measurement, the basic structure of the atom, formation of molecules and ions, the quantitative nature of chemical formulas and chemical reactions focusing on aqueous solution, chemical bonding, gas laws and properties of liquids, solids and solutions, chemical kinetics and equilibrium, acid-base and aqueous equlibria, laws of thermodynamics, electrochemistry and nuclear chemistry. |

Assessment Criteria |
The student will be evaluated with the homework given to him/her from the topics in the semester, quizzes to be made from both theoretical subjects and experiments including laboratory applications, and the final exam. |

Attendance to at least 70% for the lectures and 80% for the laboratories is an essential requirement of this course and is the responsibility of the student. Students who are absent from the laboratory will be deemed to have passed the course. It is necessary that attendance to the lecture on time.
