Course Objective

It is aimed to examine the production process of scientific knowledge and the transformation in this process in terms of historical and institutional dimensions but also explaining the basic material production of scientific development

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to indicate differences between scientific knowledge and other knowledge resources
2   Being able to explain historical development of scientific development
3   Being able to interpret the relationship between the social sciences and natural sciences
4   Being able to describe the historical development and emergence of universities
5   Being able to explain institutional university and scientific tradition in Turkey

1 The history of science and science historians; history of science writers, the reconstruction of the past
2 The resources of science
3 The distinction between social science and physical science, and scientific and non-scientific information
4 The scientific and technical development in ancient Greece, China and India
5 the scientific carriage of Islam and the Roman period
6 Scientific understanding of the Middle Ages and the Renaissan
7 The scientific developments in the 17th and 18th century
8 mid-term
9 mid-term
10 The distinction between Scientific and technical: Scientific development in the 19th Century
11 The Rapid development: in the 20th Century
12 The development of university in Europe
13 The institutional development of information production in the world
14 The institutional development of Turkish universities
