Course Objective

To gain ability to evaluate in the times of instability of monetary policy for which the monetary authority has to apply to review the possible consequences of these policies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to explain the importance of the position monetary policy in the economy policy
2   To be able to explain to indicators of the target of monetary policy and its main indicators
3   To be able to evaluate the macro-economic effects of monetary policy implementation.
4   To be able to analyze the reflections of monetary policy to economic agents (households, firms state)
5   To be able to compare the effecst of exchange rate policies on foreign trade, growth, employment and inflation.
6   To be able to analyze the central bank balance sheet.
7   To be able to interrogate the interactions between monetary and fiscal policy
8   To be able to evaluate the affects of globalization process with the channels of monetary for national economies

2 Used to achieve the objectives of the monetary policy with instruments and examples of the use of these instruments to solve economic problems
3 Central Banking: MB'nın duties and powers, the independence of MB
4 Monetary policy theory: the rule-based and context-dependent monetary policy
5 Intermediate target strategies: monetary targeting and exchange rate targeting
6 The main target strategies: the inflation-targeting
7 Introduction to the Central Bank's balance sheet accounts, the impact of operations on the Central Bank's balance sheet

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

This course given after the course of monetary policy at the period of fifth and applications of monetary policy on the basis of applications described in the World and Turkey. Course contentsmonetary policy agenda of policy changes in the world and Turkey and the course taken the possible effects of those for the economy are discussed .In addition, students are often given about articles on issues on the agenda is divided into the last 15 minutes for the debate.
